Fusion Team Aus initially consists of 3 triathletes, Ben Bell, Scott Hobson and Dave Kennett. A mix of experienced and newer athletes to the sport, in combination having multiple Ironman and 70.3 age group wins, fastest age group athlete and Top 20 overall results.
The team will also shortly be seeking applications for an additional full team member as well as the first developmental athlete.
The team was launched this past weekend in conjunction with the Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast, the home of the 2016 Ironman 70.3 World Championships. The opportunity to be racing in a world championship event within Australia is a unique one and is a key focus for the team.
Ben Bell turned out for the team this weekend, before going on to Kona in conjunction with Dave Kennett.
With a cracking race debut for the team at Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast, Ben Bell won Men's 40-44 Age Group, 4th fastest age grouper, 14th overall in a really solid pro field, and ran a blistering 1:15 for the half marathon which was only bettered by winner Tim Van Berkel. Qualification to come back to the Sunny Coast in a year's time for the Ironman 70.3 World Champion is done and next stop is Kona... Nice one Ben!
The team, its sponsors and supporters are excited about what Fusion Team Aus can achieve, both on and off the track.
