On August 6, 2016, triathletes from all over the world will cross the finish line as the first participants at the inaugural Danish race, CHALLENGEFREDERICIA

The triathlon city by the sea has joined forces with CHALLENGEDENMARK, in organizing a race for athletes who want to enjoy a festival of triathlon over the half and short distance distances.

"Fredericia is a perfect place for a Challenge race", explains Race Director at CHALLENGEDENMARK, Claus Vesterby, and continues: "The city has a long history of triathlon with a club that has really performed well and which has organized big, international races, and both national and international championships. For an organization like ours, it's crucial to have a city and a club on the team with the experience they have in Fredericia."

Mayor of Fredericia, Jacob Bjerregaard, sees a great value in getting CHALLENGEDENMARK to Fredericia: "Fredericia has the perfect setting for CHALLENGEDENMARK. The triathletes will experience the combination of the stunning nature in Nature Park Lillebælt and our beautiful historic city with lots of activities. We are looking forward to welcoming the participants and their families," he said.

The man behind the local triathlon club, Fredericia Triathlon Team, Carsten Andersen, is excited about getting an international race to the city: "We love triathlon in Fredericia, so it's amazing to get a race like this to Fredericia and put the city on the international triathlon map", explains the head of the city's triathlon club and continues "as a part of the international triathlon series CHALLENGEFAMILY, we are guaranteed a race of high standards and a natural attention from the rest of the world. This makes it interesting for both athletes and spectators to be a part of CHALLENGEFREDERICIA."

CHALLENGEFREDERICIA will take place on Saturday August 6, 2016. It will be a half-distance race and the bike course will take the athletes across one of the biggest bridges in Denmark – the "Old Little Belt Bridge" - and through the neighbor city, Middelfart. Claus Vesterby from CHALLENGEDENMARK explains that the team these days are working on the details for the course: "It's no secret that our dream is that the bike course will cross both the old and new Little Belt bridge, so we're working on that," says a smiling Race Director.

Registration for CHALLENGEFREDERICIA will open on November 6. Entry price will be DKK 1600 for the half-distance and DKK 600 for the Olympic distance.

In the days leading up to CHALLENGEFREDERICIA, there will be numerous activities for the entire family such as Challenge Kids and Challenge Women. Visit www.challengedenmark.dk for more information about side events, registration, courses, and further information.
